The Art of Praying

28 09 2008

When you are truly troubled, when life is far beyond being able to be dealt with, when you lose, in short, when you are totally alone in the world and have no-one left, you begin to pray. I used to pray often, I was raised and taught to pray in a very childish way. But the habit has stuck with me because every time I went through some hard times and I was truly alone, which was more often than not, I would race through all my troubles at night, and get deeper and deeper into a state of panic and fear, eventually as the night wore on I prayed for my haunting thoughts to go away, I prayed for an end to the pain in my head. I would pray the traditional prayer, Jesus Christ’s prayer because he was probably a troubled young man in his lifetime.

I forgot how to pray. Recently I had been experimenting with ideas that there was no God, and it was a liberating experience. But I found that my troubles didn’t just disappear because I decided that logic was the cure to my ills. My problems are indifferent to whether there is a God or not. True spiritual awakening begins in your heart anyway, and I am inclined to believe that people can be spiritual and logical at the same time. To act logically all through life without having an emotional and higher awareness would make you more like a piece of furniture than a human being. So to me, the belief is there that you can change your world through thoughts and feelings through whispered words and midnight chanting in the dark.

I was very unhappy. I was also very alone. I began praying and I felt that someone was there. It felt as if someone was thinking of me, and it felt like a warm embrace. Now to someone that has no-one in the world who they feel that they can really speak to, for someone that is far away from their real home, from their countrymen from their people, it is something. It is like being given water in the middle of a desert, like being fed when your stomach is so hungry you hallucinate.

So does this praying actually mean anything? What I wanted to know is whether it can form the bases of real healing of the fear that can possess you at times. At the moment my life has had certain things removed. The things which were there and which were crutches to me have disappeared, I feel as if I literally am walking through space, there is a gaping hole in my life, an emptiness which is massive and which stops me from sleeping late at night.

To go through each and every discontented thought keeps me going until the next night, but those thoughts don’t just go away they keep eroding my energy away night after night. Things that hurt over and over again might include family relations, and abuse which is perpetrated by certain individuals through their jealousy, which are extremely hurtful, sisters, mothers, full of anger and fathers that you sense don’t really care. Sexual problems are part of every person’s adult life, but when you suffer them and are alone for long periods of time it is easy to distort your own inadequacy into a destructive pattern where you actually believe that you are sexually worthless, when in fact your organs function normally. Another problem, your career has not taken off, because you have wasted too much time thinking about what you wanted to do rather than doing anything, you feel worthless again, the centre of individual power is at a low. When you are left alone in a foreign country there is no familiar voice, there is essentially nothing except your own mind filled with things which are left undone, things which haven’t been sorted out.

So when these thoughts swirl and swirl they do, not just at night but in the day time in consciousness, what can be done to help you through them? Praying is an Art. You must pray in different places to make it work. Luckily for me I have been brought up praying. I prayed in church on a beautiful Sunny day during mass, and I remember the first girl I loved who was there in the church in front of me bathed in Sun. I remember praying on windy days at University, when I began to develop an understanding of the stories and scriptures as complex metaphors designed to convey hidden meaning, and I began paying attention to these stories. I also remember praying in the church of tears in Jerusalem while on a day trip from my holiday in Egypt. Praying works. It takes years of practice, it takes years of doing it, but you don’t have to do it every night, you can come back to it when you need it. It is not a discipline.

Praying can connect you to someone who loves you somewhere in the world where you are not physically present. You can communicate with this person. There is always someone somewhere who is open to receiving your mind, through the planetary mind, through the other mode of existence, which many people call God. I believe that thought is transmittable through the air, through the magnetic power lines that exist surrounding the Earth. It is possible to send someone your thoughts, your feelings too. And that is one of the benefits of believing.

How to pray: Let your thoughts and fears which are grounded in misinformation mostly just dissipate away. They are not worth thinking about at night, only during the day. Pray for a solution to each and every one of them, pray for your health and the health of people in general, pray for children and people with diseases. Pray for people who are dying. Pray for global warming. Pray for love and peace. Then think about someone that loves you without discrimination or bribery and pray for them. And if they do not exist pray for someone like that to be in your life. Once you feel their presence you feel the power of prayer. God will give you what you pray for. God is there, God is real, he is not a man, he is the spirit, and he is real and he connects everything on Earth together, and God is always listening to our prayers, and we ought to pray for good things, like love and happiness, and actions which are based on love.

McCain vs. Obama

28 09 2008

This game is all about personality and very little about actual policy. It has always been like this. Since when does any politician ever do what they say? Things always come up, and the people in power do what they can to try and handle it. So, what do you need to be President of the United States of America, apart from helpful friends hidden in the halls and chambers of power? Personality.

Natal Chart Analysis

McCain has Libra rising with 1st house ruler Venus placed in its Fall in Virgo in the 12th house. This is a very poor placement for the individual person. However, this Venus is in Mutual reception with Mercury. Which means that much of the trouble is averted and the poor placement of Venus is greatly elevated. In some respects this is a fine combination because Mercury in Libra will consider and be very diplomatic, while Venus in Virgo will have an excellent grasp of the facts while also being a very good analyst.

One thing that is interesting with McCain’s chart is the position of Uranus in Taurus, the planet’s supposed Fall sign. This is in line with the conservative nature of the man although it does not deny him Uranian characteristics, because his natal Sun is in a trine with the planet. Venus’s opposition of Saturn from the natal sixth house is a sign of steadfastness and solidness. Generally this is a very hard aspect signifying toughness in love, and a cold unfeeling nature. The Capricorn Moon confirms this.

Barack Obama has a dignified Saturn and a dignified Sun. Chart ruler is Uranus and Saturn. Uranus is placed in Leo, which is its detriment. These two planets are inconjunct, which is a powerful sign that Obama is able to link up traditional forces with forward thinking and a changing world. Obama has natal Sun placed in the 6th house square Neptune, G.W. Bush has Sun square Neptune. So let’s not fool ourselves into believing that Mr Obama is any less capable of deception, or being deceived by forces and powers, (Neptune in Scorpio in 9th house of politics,) which may want to use him for their own ends.

Mars and War

Both Obama and McCain have a prominent Mars. McCain has Mars placed in the 10th house which reverberates with his military background. That Mars is also in an exuberant trine with Sagittarius Jupiter and a tense square with Uranus. If elected McCain may see more hostile action as the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth.

Obama’s natal Mars is placed in Virgo (like G.W. Bush) but it is strongly held in check by a very strong Saturn trine in Earth signs. The only other possible problem for Obama’s Mars is the semi-square with that Scorpio Neptune. There could be actions which are taken on misinformation or for the wrong reasons again. Obama’s Mars is placed in the Angular 7th house making it accidentally dignified, yet it is also fairly close to the cusp of the 8th house signifying actions which bring about death and destruction. Either way, both charts pose their own particular set of circumstances and problems.

Mars Signs

27 09 2008

Mars Leo

Mars in tropical Leo is peregrine for the first 20 degrees of this sign. Between 25 and 30 degrees Mars has terms, and between 20 and 30 degrees of tropical Leo Mars has face. These are small dignities which allow Mars some degree of essential dignity. The first twenty degrees of this sign being peregrine for Mars results in a Mars that has about the same dignity as Mars in Gemini.

Mars the warrior in Leo desires recognition for its bravery and victories, even though those victories are unlikely to be very great in themselves. In spite of this, the Sun confers heat onto Mars here and allows it the potential to be centre of attention and on central stage. An analogy might be of a Martian actor  playing a great king and being victorious on stage, on the stage his ego is satisfied, but off stage he reverts to his “normal” character, which is that of actor and not necessarily aggressive, assertive or victorious in real life. So in a sense he steals the spotlight, directing the heroic and brave deeds of the character onto himself.

The real essence of this position though is manifested through what might be termed as a fighter who is given by the Sun all of the fame and centre of attention, in the form of a King or Emperor at war. Mars is always a good fighter, but not always a good King. In Leo therefore Mars the King is not always a “just” King, but one who is prone to tyranny and tempestuousness. In Aries, the Sun is exalted, because Mars´s decisiveness and speed allows any King or hero to be victorious with speed and alacrity. Mars however, does not appreciate being in the spotlight all of the time, its actions under the beam of Leo become pre-meditated and always with the knowledge of having an audience, and while the performance might have been good, it might not be spontaneous or even authentic. Leo Mars is forced by, the Sun into donning all of the trappings and decorations of Nobility. But in reality Mars knows that all of this is fancy and not very meaningful.

Mars fights in the hot Sun in Leo. It is no surprise then that his judgement can become clouded by the excessive heat. When Kings take to the battlefield and lead the army instead of their generals they can make foolish mistakes based on desire for spectacular Victory. On the other hand when Mars has the dignity of fighting beside his King his pride and self esteem is brought right up and so the war is given a quality which is Noble and meaningful to him.

Some people with Leo Mars: Emperor Hirohito, George Clooney, Hillary Clinton, Frank Sinatra, Anthony Keidis, Donald Trump, Amy Winehouse, Max Robespierre, John McCain, Quentin Tarantino, Serena Williams, Neil Young, Jet Li, William Blake, W. B. Yeats, Boris Yeltsin, Phillipe II of France, Emperor Caligula

Mars Virgo

Mars in tropical Virgo has terms in the last 6 degrees of that sign and is peregrine in the rest, which is almost identical to the dignity of Mars in Sagittarius and Aquarius. Mars is in Mercury´s terrain in Virgo. The nature of Virgo is dry and cold, it is a changing sign, but nonetheless it is of the Earth triplicity. Virgo has rulership over physicians, nurses, clerks, employees, work and health as well as over horticulture and harvest.

When Mars is in Virgo he is out in the field. He is either out in the field cutting the wheat and bringing it in before separating it from the chaff, which takes a certain amount of skill and forethought in order not to waste time. Or he is out in the field curing patients, listening to their symptoms and working out just where and when to draw blood, to cut, to remove and to patch back up all in the name of service.

Mars has to be at war all the time, he must see something which is worth living for in the moment, and with Mercury telling him what to do in Earth he is all ready and willing to battle smart and clever against a stupid and slow enemy who he is happy to confuse through speed, though not so much cunning, because Virgo is a sign which inclines towards honesty, being Earth.

Mars in Virgo at war is equiped with mercury´s lightness and ease with words. This Mars is not interested in fighting the good fight like Aries Mars, in fact this position does not give Mars that much strength to fight a one on one mano a mano combat. Under Mercury´s leadership Mars makes the best of the field, he works out where the enemy is weak through intelligence and uses that knowledge in order to be victorious. This Mars is not heavily armoured. He must use knowledge to gain advantage, and like a warrior physician he will cut out the offending cancer, in order to gain victory, to defeat and capture the leader of the invador rather than fight and suffer heavy losses. Because of Virgo Mars´s lightness of foot and ease of movement, he is able to conquer rapidly and move on to defeat the next opponent equally as fast, all with the knowledge and rulership given to him by Mercury of books, libraries, maps and meadows.

Sexually. Mars in Virgo is not in essential debility, he does have terms here, and is neither detriment or fall. OK, this placement inclines towards being shy. If you are interested in a Mars Virgo you must put this person at ease before making any moves, they value honesty, being natural and acting in a natural way, so any actions, words or sexual language which does not seem spontaneous will make them nervous. And when Mars Virgo is nervous they are turned off. Mars Virgo is turned on and off like a light bulb. This is due mostly to the mercurial nature of Virgo, the sexual thoughts are compartmentalised and filed away in perfect order, so for Mars in Virgo there is a time and a place for everything, uncertainty can be a turn off, so make an appointment. Also Mars Virgo may sometimes think that they are sexually inadequate, physically not good enough, this is Virgo being critical, but it also means that they are capable of knowing everything that there is to know on the subject, whether or not they get the chance to put it into practice. They need to feel it in their mind first before translating it into a bodily sensation. The right words which are honest and thoughtful will help this person to feel confident and clear about what is desired of them. This person must know what the situation is, what it is that you want in very clear terms so that they feel there is no doubt, or confusion. Confusion makes Virgo Mars stressed an unhappy.

There are many examples of Mars Virgo being heroic, doing things which are warlike, brave and bold. This placement does not have to take its queue from anyone else, though at times it does like to check over what it’s doing just to make sure that the job is being done properly. “Is that OK?”…”did you like that?”… “I’m not sure I did it right, can you tell me what you’d like and be more specific?” These can be some of the questions that Mars Virgo will ask when called upon to do something, for someone else or even for themselves. They don’t think that they are good enough. Even when they are.

Mars Virgo is a fine placement considering that Mercury like Mars has special affinity with the mind and the brain. This placement can be found in people who are strategists, and who are successful at using words to attack and defeat their opponents. Jacques Chirac, George W. Bush, Lyndon B. Johnson, Barack Obama, Henry VIII and Napoleon Bonaparte are among politicians with this placement, and they are no push-overs.

The charisma of Mars Virgo is associated with these people’s movements, their bodily presence which is one of the significators of Virgo, and with Mars there it invigorates these people giving them a certain nervous energy which is charismatic and forceful on the one hand, but also endearing on the other, for it is still obvious that they only want to please and “be good enough.” Virgo Mars is lack of confidence of Virgo, mixed with confidence of Mars. Johnny Depp, Britney Spears, Princess Diana, Silvester Stalone, Charles Manson, Jeff Buckley, James Brown, John Bonham, David Schwimmer Matt Damon, Will Smith, Thom Yorke, Ernest Hemingway, Emily Bronte and believe it or not Wayne Rooney all have Mars Virgo.

Mars Libra

Mars in Libra is placed in his detriment. Libra amongst other things signifies beautiful surroundings, a woman’s bedroom, a decorated dinning hall or restaurant with violins playing in the background, and like Taurus it generally signifies women and girls. Mars signifies aggression and fighting. Put the two together in any number of combinations and you have behaviour which is not suitable, which is contradictory. You have a bar room brawl in the beautiful dinner hall, you have your ladies bedroom filled with “man things” power tools and dirty motorbike parts, you have the cherub like violinists at the wedding playing Iron Maiden instead of Vivaldi.

This is Detriment for Mars. If this combination appears in a Man’s chart women will be agressive with him, or he will simply have marital relations which are filled with argument and fighting. If this combination appears in a woman’s natal chart, she will likely be agressive in relationships, and the men that she will be attracted to will be weak in some way.

George Orwell possessed Mars in Libra in the 1st house. He was a writer, not exactly the macho type, sophisticated and intellectual, yet he did voluntarily go and fight in a war. The war was in the name of peace, Mars in Libra likes to fight for peace. For Orwell though his side lost, the Fascists won and totalitarianism took over. This Mars is a very unhappy Mars, because it craves peace and security, but finds none. Orwell’s books are filled with a foreboding violence, with actions and violence that disturbs peace, that destroys any sense of security.

Mars Scorpio

Mars possesses Rulership, triplicity by day and night, terms in the first 6 degrees, and face in the first 10 degrees, making it the strongest place for Mars in the entire Tropical Zodiac. Having notriplicity in Aries, Scorpio Mars can be said to be most dignified in Scorpio under its night time rulership.

The Nature and reputation of Mars in Scorpio is powerful and myths and legends have been borne out of this placement. There is no doubt that when Mars is found in his own domain his ability to win and fight is second to none. Having said this, Scorpio is Mars´s night timerulership which means that by preference this Mars fights by night, when the darkness and cold gives him the advantage.

Part of the advantage of Mars in Scorpio is the ray of Scorpio contains elements of Pluto traditional lord of the dead and the underworld. In this sense Mars is given a psychological advantage which is not necessarily physical strength, but an advantage of knowing exactly how to defeat and win against their enemies through, primarily fear. But this fear is not bluff, the fear that precedes this Mars is due to Mars´s incisive and brutal actions. Of course in Scorpio Mars is a dealer of death, however, this is its dignity and therefore the death that is dealt and given by this Mars is just and destined. Mars here in a sense serves up a karmic judgement that has been previously decided in Libra.

It is often necessary for Nature to kill and destroy in order to regenerate and renew itself. Scorpio Mars is given this task and is best at it. Often the energy of Scorpio is hidden, is dormant and appears to be soft, and nonthreatening, this is one of its advantages. In fact even the public image of Mars in Scorpio can be deceiving, because Scorpio is a sign which generally shuns the spotlight and shuns any artificiality. The result is that Mars in Scorpio is able to fight his battles in total privacy, sometimes without his enemy even being aware of anything until the final minute, due again to the night timerulership . But this is not to say that Mars is either underhand, scheming, or in any kind of dishonest or morally wrong place in his actions. Because of his dignity it is his duty to carry out such activities, to kill if necessary, to finish and to destroy that which is weak and has not purpose.

Death is necessary and the bottom line in any war situation. Mars in Scorpio is aware of this. Mars in Scorpio would rather live, because he is attached to life and is born with survival instinct. Mars at war here is at war in the dark, he is also at war in difficult terrain, which is both cold and wet, possibly even at sea, but more likely taking full use of the desert´s lack of water in order to let his enemies die of thirst while he fills up in little oasis of which only he knows the location. Of course Scorpio Mars´s toughness is often brought about through testing, Scorpio has a way of putting pressure on Mars here so that he is given difficult and sometimes catastrophic times of testing where it appears that he is totally wiped out. However this is part of the psychology of the sign in which Mars is well placed to be “reborn” and renewed with full veteran experience and that advantage once again of having been through disaster which his enemies have not.

Examples of Mars in Scorpio: Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, George Washington, JRR Tolkien

Mars Sagittarius

Mars has terms in the last 5 degrees of Sagittarius. He is peregrine in the rest of this hot moist sign. Although sharing the same elemental nature as Aries that of heat and moisture, both of these signs are actually not the most comfortable for Mars who rules bytriplicity the Water element and therefore is most dignified in Tropical Scorpio.

The Peregrination of Mars in the first 25 degrees of this sign is due in part because of Jupiter´s extreme desire for travel, Mars, in its strongest sign ofrulership Scorpio, is actually of a fixed nature and although a great starter and fighter requires staying power, like that of Capricorn the Cardinal Earth sign. In Jupiter´s domain Mars is so restless and moving with each and every spontaneous chance to travel, that anything he does see, create, conquer or achieve in this sign is done by chance, by luck and inspiration and he is not therefore able to sustain the achievement or keep hold of the conquest for very long.

Mars in Sagittarius is in a religious setting, he is fighting his battles on sacred ground. Mars is given the garb of a holy warrior, a priest, evangelical, and his mission in this respect is one in which his power and violence walks on unstable and difficult ground. Thecrusader of course goes off with huge enthusiasm to fight on behalf of God, to find some exotic spiritual realm and gain for himself forgiveness and a place in heaven for his actions. But on his crusade he finds that he in reality is simply killing and not really doing anything which leads to spiritual growth and so is destined to be disappointed with the entire holy war.

Having said this, the energy of Mars is given an expansive and extroverted quality which is often fortunate uunder the guidance of Jupiter. Adventures will always be action packed, filled with events, even though they may be violent events. Likewise this Mars may not actually fight physically, but may take a moral stance or ideology and use it in order to fight. This is the position of the Evangelist who goes out aggressively and aims to conquer and take more people into his moral framework simply by conversion and demonstrating strong conviction. After all the last 5 degrees of this sign are mild dignity for Mars who will have success and respect for actions and conviction in this area.

Traditionally Sagittarius fought using a bow and arrow and rode a horse. The Mongol Hordes as well as the Native American Nations were stronglySagittarian for there ability to race across entire continents in short weeks conquering and burning what they found in their wake. Naturally they were unable to keep hold of their conquests even though they may have been entirely undefeated what they left behind would have been forgotten and left to the elements in trueSagittarian fashion.

Horary and Dignity

27 09 2008

I have found myself looking at horary charts recently and saying to myself, if it’s a possible no then it’s a definite no, and if it’s a possible yes, it’s probably no just as well. The truth is that you only really ask a horary question if you want something or someone that is apparently out of reach, something that you believe you have only an outside chance with and something that almost always only exists in the realm of your own fantasy.

I have found recently that each time I ask a question, I am represented as a planet in either its fall, or its detriment, or by Saturn placed in the eighth house. Often the significator of what I most want in life is not far off, translating light towards me through a third party, making an aspect after about 10 more degrees and usually dignified.

What does this signify? The pattern emerges. What I am asking for is dignified, strong, is even sympathetic towards me, whether it be an idea a job, or a person. But I am not happy. I am in a permanent mess. I am the one who possesses no dignity, in a place where I don’t want to be and unhappy with my own self. This is what the significator of the 1st house placed in detriment signifies.

Natal Chart

Sometimes it is hard to accept the unacceptable. Not just sometimes, most of the time. Life is not going to ever be the way you want it to be, and the horary method will only compound what is already written in the natal chart. If in your natal chart the Ascendant ruler is placed in detriment or fall, then this is an indication that the life of the person who owns the chart will be a miserable affair. The person will not be where they want to be, they will be driven by unhappiness right the way through until the end. It doesn’t mean that they won’t succeed in anything in life, but it does mean they will always be weak in some respect, always rely on someone else to help them along.

Neptune Signs

26 09 2008

Neptune Pisces

Magic is in the air. Magic more to the point is in the water supply.

When Neptune slips into the sign of Pisces in 2012, illusion and beauty will fill the world, there will be such fine emotion, such merging and people will feel that they are one with the Universe and with each other. Water of course is what connects the world, not only are human beings mostly water, but so is the Earth’s surface. The Mayas have predicted that the coincidence of Neptune Pisces, of which they knew nothing about with their own Astrological system heralded the End of the Age.

Now in true Neptune fashion, half the population have taken these words to signify the end of the world. But of course logic states that this is not so, our Solar system is stable, and changes slowly. Pisces is often confused, often does not know the difference between logic and imagination. So there will be part of the population that truly believes that the end is nigh. And they will make their contribution to the feeling that will permeate the world… because crisis and confusion often does bring forth moments of clarity and redemption from the impending catastrophe.

There are musicians who have Neptune placed in Pisces, who were in tune with the finer emotions of humanity. They were able to use that talent to affect people through their art, through their creativity, they were able to capture people’s hearts. This placement is the most powerful placement for Neptune, Neptune Pisces is spiritually awake, and the most sensitive placements of Neptune.

Neptune Aquarius

What’s wrong with being alone? There are many people out there, who are alone, who feel alone, who are in, for whatever reason, emotional islands. The nature of humanity is that we are all born into the world this way, that the human body is separate from all other human bodies.

It is easy to see that people are trying to connect with each other. The real reason for groups and clubs, may not be the knowledge and the actual interest which unites, but, rather the uniting, the being together, that counteracts the lonely and emotionally detached experience of Aquarius.

Neptune is a fine planet, it’s the planet which acts on the human sensibilities, emotion which is even more sensitive than the emotion of the Moon. So while Neptune transits the sign of Aquarius, groups of people all around the world will be able to come in contact with finer feelings, with the soul of the Solar System.

Having modern rulership over Venus’s exaltation, it is easy to see that Neptune is sentimental and very attached to feelings of love. But these feelings don’t just project onto one person or one concept. For Aquarius, it is so important to accept and understand the whole, to bring forth the collective approach. Because Neptune has so much compassion, and Aquarius believes in the Brotherhood of Man, Aquarius Neptune will do all it can to erase the discrimination, to put a stop to other people’s suffering. It does this in a methodical way, because it is under the rulership of Saturn and Uranus. There is a need to create both systems which are all-inclusive, but also a need to connect with someone.

Neptune has a lot of emotional needs. in Aquarius it reaches out to other people, to try to make friends, to not be alone. This is a noble placement for Neptune.

Neptune Capricorn

Neptune is the planet of imagination and illusions. Capricorn symbolises the father. The father of Capricorn Neptune is likely to be idealised. Neptune has the effect of making the father psychic or highly sensitive. Those are positive manifestations of the energy, negative manifestations are those associated with the down side of Neptune, confusion, the wrong end of the stick, lies, deceptions, and of course absense.

Capricorn also rules institutions and governments. Capricorn Neptune therefore has similar effects for these institutions, the heads of state of the Eastern European states and of Russia are destined to be senstive, psychic and idealistic, they are likely at times to deceive, but looking at 1990-1993, the countries whose consitutions were born in this period will have both Saturn and Uranus close by in either the same sign or in Aquarius, so the power and the backbone is all-present.

Neptune Sagittarius

Star Wars

It wasn’t so much the actual wars that captured my imagination about these films which came out towards the end of the Neptune in Sagittarius transit, but more the adventure, the expansiveness of it, different worlds with lush forests and mountains, as well as Icy worlds or desert worlds, and then the noble and bold fight against darkness by the force. It also included a rather exotic and beautiful princess from a distant galaxy and the Jedi Knights, who were all filled with great belief in the heroism and bravery that is of the essence of Sagittarius which is Fire. The films which began then were all about expansion, of going further on a journey which was as spiritual as it was about the hot princess. The “Force” was a spiritual power which could only be mastered by knowledge and wisdom, these were possessed by the wise Obi Wan Kenobe and Yoda, who were the masters and were Jedi because they knew how to use their knowledge of the force for Good rather than Evil. Sagittarius is a sign of strange and foreign, or exotic places but also has much affinity with animals, and in the Star Wars films there are a vast array of various different species of alien half human half animal who just like the Centaur of Sagittarian myth are wise and on the side of the Light.

Neptune made Star Wars a myth which was so in tune with the Sagittarian expanive feeling, with Neptune in that sign it was something which was all about dreaming and fulfilling an ideal, and the ideals of Sagittarius are similare to Neptune’s visions, which is why this was combination works very well, combining expansive noble qualities with idealism, compassion and a sense of being out there in something great and wondersome. It should be noted that three more films were made during the transit of Pluto in Sagittarius, staying fairly true to the original soul of the films. Neptune of course had moved on into Aquarius, and with it also went the idea of the universe being inexhaustible and expansive because the plots and themes and characters were already known… Aquarius has the facts remember and doesn’t need to go out searching, but to simply resolve. It is interesting though how the Dark Side features in the newer films with great awareness of its power, Pluto working his total catharsis and painful transformation through the Spiritual dimension… the pain of Anakin Skywalker is Plutonic, it’s beyond what any human being ought to take, but it does explain, and that is Neptune sextiling its earlier place in Sagittarius from Aquarius, bringing true understanding.

Jupiter Signs

26 09 2008

Jupiter Capricorn

Jupiter in hard aspect to Saturn in a natal chart is sometimes a sign of unhappiness. Jupiter signifies in many ways the ability for a person to be happy. The sign of Capricorn is not very sympathetic to the feeling of expansion, to the feeling of going up, of being free. Capricorn symbolises amongst many things what is serious, what is full of delay, of inadequacy and of just not measuring up… which is why it is also so strict about doing things properly, the first time. Capricorn has had a lifetime to learn from its mistakes.

Jupiter doesn’t like having to pay attention to detail, Jupiter likes to feel that where it goes and what it does is new and exciting. Jupiter likes the feeling of discovering new horizons, so for Jupiter, Capricorn symbolises being in a valley surrounded by mountains that impede that sense of expansiveness and freedom.

Jupiter Sagittarius

Jupiter Sagittarius is able to find truth. If life contains truth and meaning, if the higher meaning of life is discovered and life contains that element of hope which is the big thing for Sagittarius, then contentment and joy can be found. Jupiter in Sagittarius feels that something good is coming, it doesn’t matter that it never in their lives actually materialises, the fact is that this placement has Faith. Jupiter believes in the future, Jupiter believes the big promises that it makes to itself and to other people. In the Age of Pisces, Jupiter in Sagittarius was the priest who believed in the great beyond, in the afterlife, in something amazing and wonderful that was in “the world to come.” This does not have to signify religious Faith in every instance, all that this placement means is that Jupiter has Faith and will follow where the benevolent forces of the Universe lead it. Jupiter here is happy to go to foreign countries, because it believes that good things await it, “on the other side.” Often this is not so, life is harder than that, so then Jupiter returns back home, believing that good things again await him back there. The disappointments that usually make people unhappy in life seem to be like water off a duck’s back to Jupiter in Sagittarius.

There are of course some who are lucky beyond the wildest dreams. But like the Priest in the Monastery, it is their Faith and nothing more than this, that they have cultivated over the years which bring feelings of joy because there is something good, special, joyful waiting…

Composite and Synastry – Destined Relationships

25 09 2008

Soulmates?

I believe that these are probably the most quested for types of horoscopes which can be cast. To cast your own chart and to interpret it is one thing. If you know the time and believe it to be accurate, then all you have to do is to work it out and nod your head when you realise what you are, accept the faulty nature which is no fault of your own, and move on to trying to work with it.

But when there is someone that you know 100% that you love and that you are made for each other, it doesn’t really matter what interpretation you get, if it’s not the one that says you should stay together until the End of the Age, then it is obviously wrong. It is wrong, of course it’s wrong, how can some random Astrology tell you about how you feel about someone when it doesn’t even have feelings of its own.

There probably are some good relationships out there somewhere in the blue yonder, somewhere, there are people who find their happiness, all they do though is keep it secret. But it can happen and is destined to happen for those that believe in it, for those that seek and never give up hope.

Natal Chart vs. Synastry

Part of the parcel of course is that, written in every person in the Natal chart is a picture. This picture can say whether relations with other people, will be positive, or negative, whether they will encounter opposition, or whether they will encounter amiability. If the ruler of the natal 7th house is debilitated or weak, judge accordingly, all relations with regard to intimacy will involve a weak or debilitated person.

If the ruler of the Ascendant is joined happily with the ruler of the 7th, if the ruler of the 7th is placed in the 1st or the ruler of the 1st placed in the 7th, then the native will find contentment with a their significant other. These are the lectures of William Lilly. But this is a gross simplification. I use it simply to identify that some of the natural tendencies within an individual are already set, and that whatever synastry chart or composite chart they can find through someone else, that individual is set up for certain relationships from birth.

Instead of looking for certain things in a synastry or in a composite chart, you should look for the relationships which are destined in your natal chart. I don’t believe that it is necessary to have the same relationships throughout life, I don’t believe in the psychological model of the parental and familial relationships being repeated, at great cost and misery to any one particular person. Those individual relations are one-offs like every relation.  the point of them is to accept them, integrate them in your life, however distinct from what you crave and want, and then set out to find someone that is different, because life is about gathering up different experiences.

There may well be similarities between what you experienced as a child and what you experience as an adult with other adults. But it will not be the same, the same patterns do not have to be repeated. There is one house which signifies parents, one house which signifies siblings, one house that signifies extended family, and another entirely different house that signifies relationships.

I think that parallels are important in synastry and in a natal chart. The 7th house and its signifier must have some similarities with the overall nature of the person that you are interested in. They must in some way fulfil the destiny of that planet, of that house, and the aspects of that planet and its house.

MEANING

If you have ever read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley you will know that to have perfect and easy relationships and lives is to never learn anything and never acquire knowledge and human understanding. But that is not to say that in order to live a meaningful life you must suffer all the way through it. Just that you can only measure the successes and the happy times with the seemingly infinite times of failure, solitude and misery.

Some Pointers to Positive Synastry

There is no such thing as the perfect chart. But these things should be sought after rather than using aspects in order to reject someone. Compatibility is one thing, but there is also such a thing as having someone that is different to yourself and who can encourage you to experience different things.

Venus signifies love, and attraction, it is so obvious. Venus – Sun in aspect, this is the aspect that you should look for, all other aspects are just inferior.

The Descendant: The Descendant has as its natural ruler Venus, and is the traditional house of your intimate love. So what you need here is Venus – Descendant aspects, and by its very nature, Venus – Ascendant aspects, but especially Venus conjunct the Descendant.

Mars signifies sex, interestingly Mars is the natural ruler of the Ascendant and 1st house. Mars in harmonious aspect must be present to bring heat and warmth, its nature is of fire, this makes for passion.

Then Saturn, the other traditional malefic. Saturn allows things to last. A relationship is based on time spent together, and Saturn is Cronus. Saturn by its nature is in exaltation in the 7th sign Libra, the sign of the marriage and partnership. Saturn brings stability to people’s lives and permanence. Harmonious Saturn aspects are wanted.

Jupiter is important for Faithfulness. Jupiter in aspect will make things feel good.

Pluto. Pluto is about manipulation and attraction as well.

To be continued…

Pluto in Aquarius

24 09 2008

I am not going to make predictions about what will happen in 2023 onwards, though that would be fun. But I do think that Pluto in Aquarius is an interesting topic. Here is my take on Pluto in Aquarius.

Elizabeth I, Queen of England had Pluto in Aquarius placed in the 1st house. This person was a writer and a poet, as well as a monarch and symbol of sovereignty. She embodied Pluto in the first house, by maintaining power. But that power was not solely hers, it was of course, in Aquarian style shared. Elizabeth was no dictator, she presided and encouraged her country to begin an era of cultural experimentation, of scientific advancement and rewarded her subjects for their ultimate voyages of discovery. Elizabeth was also known as the “Virgin Queen,” she did not marry and was a Virgo Sun, Virgo is the sign of duty and this fits with her sacrificing her love life for her country. But the 1st house is the house which is most associated with a person, which makes someone who they are more than any other planetary placement. Scorpio is on the tenth house cusp, and therefore Pluto disposits that highest honour and esteem into the first through Pluto in Aquarius.

Aquarius is a sign which is often alone, yet wants, society. So it is befitting that Elizabeth patronised the likes of William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, Ben Jonson, Francis Drake, Francis Bacon, Sir Walter Raleigh and Sir Humphrey Gilbert. She rewarded people who were cultural creators, poets, play writers, adventurers, pirates, explorers and colonisers of “new worlds.” These people were all doing something to expand the English National consciousness, they were contributing to the construction of a society, which was not totally reliant on singular religious codes, but dialogic, offering rebellion, change, intellectual freedom, freedom to roam, while still maintaining itself as a power to which all paid respect.

Simon Bolivar, was accredited with being one of the leaders of the liberation of South America from the yoke of Spanish Empire. This man was a Freemason, and a leader of armies. He was a fighter and he had Pluto placed in natal 11th house in Aquarius, with Scorpio ruling the eighth. He was instrumental in the transferral of collective resources from an empire, to independence. Something that he does have in common with Elizabeth and it is just a curiosity is that he was a widower who’s wife died early on, and who never remarried. In essence he was alone for most of his life. Even with the Sun in Leo in the 5th house and with Neptune in Libra in the 7th.

Pluto in Aquarius is about changing a system, and a society. People who have this placement are motivated by seeing themselves outside, or above the current system and are inclined to alter it, in order to change human social interactions, not just locally but on a national and international scale.

Venus Signs

24 09 2008

Venus Gemini

This is the sign that isn’t satisfied with one of anything. Natives with this placement should read poetry about love, read novels with depth right the way through… to the end. They are capable of sticking through to the end, so long as it involves constant mental stimulation, variety and change. Bob Dylan has this placement, his singing voice as shown by Venus was never a “fine singing voice,” more like a gritty and smoky shout, but his lyrics are lengthy, it was after all the words that mattered more than anything. Even more than the meaning behind them…?

Venus Gemini is a fun loving fun-lover.

Venus Aries

Such intense feeling but for such a short period of time. What happened? Did you get bored so quickly of my love? Love is meant to be lasting. This placement is about being independent and strong, also indicates a love of self, which is in direct conflict with the idea of loving someone else.

Aries Venus is active, outgoing and pursues other people. It is also the placement which may be selfish in love. This is the reason this planet is placed in detriment in this sign. However, the independence of this place and simple strength of Aries makes anyone with this placement attractive in themselves and charismatic as leaders and role models. This is a classic “pin-up” film star placing. Marilyin Monroe, Pierce Brosnan, George Clooney, Albert Einstein, Jennifer Aniston, Jack Nicholson, Cristiano Ronaldo are all examples of the individual personality with much Aries charisma.

Venus Taurus

<!–[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 <![endif]–>

<!–[endif]–>What’s it worth? What’s its real value?

If it creates something, of real value to people then it’s worth doing. This placement is about finding the value in things, and working out if the product will be of benefit, will make life more secure, pleasant and essentially easy and happier for people. These people are motivated by values.

Musicians and Painters: Ella Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald had the most luscious voice and warmth, coming from her personality. Richard Wagner… Created some music of real value, lasting music of deep passion and emotion. Eric Clapton, has written many love songs and been one of the most solid long lasting musicians of the Rock era. Salvador Dali’s paintings question what reality is, what we value in life. Paul McCartney, Ron Wood, Franz Joseph Haydn. William Joseph Turner the painter.

Politicians and Philosophers: Karl Marx: determined the value system and paradigm of material value changing the face of the world’s politics. Adolph Hitler: Was searching for values for the German Nation. Michael Moore: Questions the values of modern American politics. Princess Diana, and her son Prince William.

Venus Virgo

I wasn’t good enough for you the moment you set eyes on me. I was interesting, i was odd to you but that translated into attraction for you, which was never really attraction, it was more of an interest, and then I said things which were peculiarly formed which provoked thoughts in your head, which translated into a funny feeling, which allowed you to speak, which made you feel like you were listened to, and that feeling came close, it came very close but it never came close enough to let you let your guard down because it was never the right time, because it just wasn’t perfect, because I made you nervous, which translated itself into a feeling but you weren’t sure which feeling, but when you finally worked it out it was too late.

You were so sweet with your words, you always considered and thought about me and I knew you were thinking and considering me, but I wasn’t sure about what you wanted because you always kept pulling away, and I eventually gave up, but I still feel grateful for your kindness and gentleness.

Venus Capricorn

She builds our love up in her head like a castle. She builds it up on block and on stone, she creates it in solid form. She builds up our love somehow with persistent and painstaking determination. She is grounded and happy, she is so slow, but so sure, and yet I admire the fact that she doesn’t give up… the fact that she makes me feel wanted even though I give her reason to think I don’t want her. But there she is again, cautiously working her way up, working me up into feeling something for her. She earns my respect for being so persistent and unflinching, and respect is needed in love…

Venus Libra

Venus placed in Libra in the natal chart.

This is the essentially dignified place for Venus. It is akin to having power through weakness, in the sense that it is the opposing force to Aries Mars. Venus represents the female form; if Mars is the warrior archetype, the masculine, male energy, then Venus is the female counterpart, this is the damsel, the girl, the bride. And just as the ideal of Mars is strongest in Aries, as a warrior, or soldier, so the ideal of Venus in Libra is strongest as the opposite side of the spectrum, that of harmony instead of war, and that of alliance and peace. Libra Venus is well represented as a beautiful princess, daughter, or bride; it is said that in times past, women did not have choice in such matters, and that their fates were decided by others. Perhaps this is still true for those with Venus Libra often ask others to decide for them, only wanting to please. But in pleasing, they also often get what they want anyway because the nature of this placing is so fortunate that either option is fortunate to them; and it is probably where the indecision arises from in the first place.

A person with this aspect is pathetic in love. This person is stupid, and will actually believe “words of love” whether they are spoken to him or whether he speaks them to someone else, who is left wondering what this person really wants. What they really want is to live the fantasy of love, actually they only feel alive if they feel loved, and sometimes can only feel turned on if that emotion is fulfilled. Strange, because Venus is actually in an Air sign and as such does possess intelligence here. The most important thing for this person, is said to be harmony, but this is essentially not true. The most important thing to Venus in Libra is honest beauty.

As Keats said:

“Truth is beauty, and beauty is truth, and that is all you need to know.”

Venus Pisces

I have loved you in past lives, or you have loved me in past lives. I am not good for you, but I hope that you will still love me. I am not good, i am lacking and lost, I am lonely and I am helpless in this world, I look to you to sooth my pain away, and your smiling happy-go-lucky, and all-loving self saves me from certain doom.

~Yes I have known you before, before I knew that I loved you, I knew you. I didn’t know that you were there, that you existed even, and I am so sorry that I never heard or saw what you felt for me, and I am sorry that you suffered for such a long time, without me knowing. I am glad that i know about you now, and I hope you’ll not let me pass you by again, and I hope that you will not forget the promise that you made to me. Stay true to me, have faith in me, have belief, and I will sacrifice everything for you.

Venus Scorpio

She loved me, so she picked on me.

She loved me so she hurt me.

She loved me so she spread vicious rumours about me.

She loved me so she went with someone who she hates.

Venus Cancer

Venus placed in Cancer is completely defensive about love. Venus takes her queue from her mother or father, she will look either for someone who will protect her, or for someone who she might play mother with. Venus in Cancer are very sensitive and will take things to heart easily. This is a highly emotionally reactive place for Venus, who’s moods are extremely changeable.

Cancer Venus should shower all of their affection on family members, and should make their home a beautiful and comforting place to live in order to find happiness and love.

Venus Leo

You possess personality. When you step into a room, you have an effect. You are amazing. You like to think of yourself as a film star. Certainly Venus in Leo loves themselves, but is able to give love also in a very warm and affectionate way. This placing is one of the most socially popular combinations.

Venus Sagittarius

To find love and happiness, go exotic. Venus Sagittarius loves to be far far away, and loves the idea of of meeting someone on a train, plane or ship. This person is faithful, due to the nature of Sagittarius, and generous and honest too. Venus in Sagittarius is always searching for love which is often from beyond the city walls. In order to find happiness they need an intelligent travelling companion who is as excited by the thought of going some place new as they are.

Venus Aquarius

This kind of Venus likes to have intellectual equality. They are more like a Venus Gemini in this respect, so friendship and shared interests are important. To find love and happiness Venus Aquarius should not follow convention, should look for someone that is extremely clever or extremely different. Venus Aquarius is one of the most detached types of Venus and will not mind it if they are away from their love for weeks at a time. They simply love freedom and tolerate the fact that you like freedom too, and they love you for that fact, because its something you have in common.

Venus in Aquarius has a sparkle in her eyes. She´s actually under the rulership of Saturn while in Aquarius, but it´s not the mean Capricorn Saturn, rather the intellectual Saturn. It means she has to have experience and knowledge in order to find love. It seems counter-intuitive that love can only come through knowledge, but it´s also true that Venus has rulership in an intellectual air sign, where Saturn has his exaltation.

Very, very beautiful: Paris Hilton.
